Embracing Change and Shaping the Future: CISP Becomes a Participatory Foundation
On Saturday, June 21st, 2025, an Extraordinary Assembly meeting of CISP members approved the transformation of the Association into a Participatory Foundation.
This strategic decision follows a thorough reflection on the global context in which we operate: marked by increasingly complex and interconnected crises, as well as emerging environmental, social, and geopolitical challenges. After 42 years of activity, CISP has chosen to adopt a legal framework better suited to addressing present challenges and shaping the future with the goal of enhancing stability, transparency, and our ability to foster broad-based engagement.
During the Assembly, all governance roles were also renewed:
- Maura Viezzoli was elected President.
- Gianluca Falcitelli, former Director of the Mediterranean and Middle East Area, was elected as the new Director-General.
- The new Board of Directors, comprising Silvia Declich, Stefania Petrosillo, Rosa D’Arca, Claudio Viezzoli, and Rossella Urru, appointed Alessandro De Luca as Vice President of CISP.
This new structure will allow us to reinforce our grounding in the territories we serve, expand participation—including through the new figure of the "promoting member"— and engage more effectively with public institutions, private entities, and civil society organisations.
